Going "green" is a concept that has been around for awhile.  However, steps have been taken to make it easier for the residents of Carmel and Fishers, IN.  This new programs will actually pay you to recycle.

RecycleBank, which is a partnership between the municipalities of Carmel and Fishers with Republic Services, will measure the amount of products that residents recycle and issue reward points.  Points can be redeemed online for gift cards, groceries, movie tickets, iPods, etc.

Many residents do recycle.  Yet, this partnership gives residents a reason to recycle and Republic and RecycleBank believe residents can do better.  Like programs in other cities have collected more than 350,000 tons of material, earning residents between $130-$200 in value!
