Mortgage Rates Decline! Home Buyers Get Surpise Boost From Europe Crisis As Loans Drop To Below 5%
Monday, May 24, 2010
Rates on 30-year mortgages averaged 4.84% last week, the lowest rates in 2010, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal. The Journal credited the rate declines partially to international money seeking a safe haven in the United States, away from the economic problems in Europe.
Some experts see rates on a 30-year loan falling to 4.5 percent, the Journal reported.
