Today, April 22, marks our annual celebration of “Earth Day”.  This day is designated to raise awareness on how to keep our earth clean and shows how everyone can do their part to do so.  How are Indianapolis residents celebrating earth day this year?  There are several activities going on all around Indy in honor of Earth Day.

The Eiteljorg Museum located downtown Indianapolis will be hosting a community round dance as well as the opportunity to Listing to the stories of the Three Sisters Garden.  Attendees will be able to learn about the ways the American Indians used plants. Admission is $5 for full time students or children ages 5-17, $7 8 for adults, and $7 for attendees 65 and older.

In Carmel, Whole Foods Market on Clay Terrace Boulevard will be hosting a Kids Earth Day Art Show, where you can meet local artists who have created art out of recyclable products along with portraits of what the earth means to them.

In Broad Ripple Park, Flourish Yoga Studio will be teaching a Water Warrior Yoga class in attempt to raise awareness on how to keep our drinking water clean.

The Indianapolis Children’s Museum will host a rain barrel making demo to celebrate earth week.  You can also take part in making biodegradable seed pots and the kids can play educational games on earth day.  The museum will also be informing patrons of their efforts to reduce its environmental footprint.

However you choose to celebrate Earth Day, just remember to all do our part in keeping our earth clean and healthy!
