It’s hard to believe that we are entering the year 2011.  It is even harder to imagine our world without Apples ever-so-successful iPad.  Well, less than one year ago, the Apple “iTablet” was expected to not only NOT do well, but suspected by some to FAIL.  Here we are in the home stretch of 2010 and the iPad has done everything except fail.  For many, the Apple iPad is on the top of the Christmas lists this year, making it one of the most wanted gifts of the holiday season.   Whether it is on your holiday wish list or not, Apple is singing its praises.

With the release of the iPad back in April of 2010, the device has had less than one year to change our world, but has succeeded.  With less than a month on the market, the App iPad only confirmed Apple’s rise to the top of the tech world, standing proud as the world’s biggest tech company in May 2010.

The devices, centered on apps, have helped shape industries and companies, and change them for the better.  While we all know the apps that we have available on our phones, the tiny screens and slow connections is where the iPad comes into play, allowing larger screens used mostly on Wi-Fi networks.  Companies around the world are beginning to see the ways they can increase and improve their business on these devices.   Web design, social media, and publishing are all industries that are expanding and taking advantage of what this technology can do for them, but what may not be on forefront of your brain is how this can help out in the Real Estate industry.

Cutting costs on printing, interactive Listing presentations, and scoping out the neighborhood from the comfort of your home or car are all ways the Apple iPad is helping the Real Estate industry work smarter.  In the Keller Williams Realty, Fishers/Geist office alone, there are several realtors taking advantage of this technological advancement and finding they are saving time and money in the long run.  What apps are helping agents take advantage of this?  Let’s take a look at some must have apps for the thriving real estate professional:

Better Homes and Gardens HomeSelect

This app allows you to look up statistics of different neighborhoods while creating a photo album on each house you may want to see.  You can then add notes in on each picture for future reference and minor details.

Realtor.com

Free app using MLS data

NearBuy

Uses classified ads

(Other FREE apps similar to Realtor.com and NearBuy are:  Zillow.com and Trulia.com.  Download them all and find out which ones suit you best)

AroundME

Not a Real Estate specific app, but allows you to look at businesses, banks, schools, and restaurants that are close to your current location.  This is a great tool that allows you to search by name, or browse nearby locations categorized by topic.

A few other apps that have proven beneficial in the Real Estate industry are:  Google Maps, and Loan Helper Loan Calculator.

Hopefully these apps will help your business in 2011!  No matter what your profession, the Apple iPad has proven a success to many in 2010 and I cannot wait to see what technology awaits us in 2011.  As always, if you are looking to build, Buy, rent, or sell, the Evelo Team at Keller Williams can help!
